We use OneDrive to connect all of our files to our Sharepoint server. These files sync with each other. If OneDrive goes down or disconnects, we've lost files, so we depend on OneDrive to always be up and running, with no crashes or down time.
  • Keeps our files in sync with the SharePoint server
  • Keeps any personal files synced but remain password protected
  • Easy to access from any web browser
  • My OneDrive will disconnect itself after I do a hard reboot over the weekend
  • My OneDrive will completely disappear from view randomly
  • After a hard reboot, most often I'll have to go into my applications folder to find the OneDrive app, then open and wait for it to sign in and sync
OneDrive is very well-suited to handle synced files with an online server. On the same token, if/when OneDrive randomly disconnects this causes an issue.

OneDrive is our preferred individual cloud storage platform. Students use it for class projects and collaboration, Faculty and staff use it for backup and syncing files across multiple devices. It's great that we have it as part of our O365 subscription, so it is easily available and supportable for all users.
  • Sync - OneDrive does a great job having files available across all devices, particularly the on-demand sync available on Win10 and newer.
  • Backup - I've used file versions and folder versions multiple times to revert to an older copy or undo an accidental deletion.
  • Processing changes - This can take quite a while, particularly when a large number of files have changed or after a reboot.
  • Syncing multiple accounts - It's possible, but not as intuitive as some other cloud storage apps.
OneDrive is great to make sure that all your work files are available everywhere, even on mobile. It's also helpful when your work computer is refreshed, within 5 minutes I have all my files available again! It's less helpful for sharing files that don't need to be sent as-is, video files, in particular, can be a problem because it will try to play them but at the end of the day, it's not a streaming platform.

OneDrive is used by my entire organization and has been for at least four years. It was an additional Microsoft product that came with an organization-wide email upgrade and was subsequently made available to everyone. My department uses it regularly as we frequently work remotely while traveling on business, so it provides access to necessary documents/files.
  • Cloud storage.
  • Multi-device syncing.
  • Desktop access glitches/shuts down.
  • More aesthetically pleasing interface.
OneDrive is very useful for organizations with people located in different buildings and/or frequent travelers, as it provides virtual access to documents and files. My team uses it to share/host working documents among those of us who travel 20-40 percent of the time, meaning we no longer have to email documents back and forth but can instead access them from the cloud.

I use onedrive extensively to store and share files across team of 50+ engineers. I have been long term user of onedrive and found it to be very reliable with no down time in so far experience. In the team I encourage the members to keep all the work on onedrive all time and share with relevant members so that they can pickup and use without avoid any dependency on the person to be available all time and laptop dependency. Also during the last 2 years this proved to be very useful. The permission settings for file or folder level are great and quick preview all are useful. The app support both on mobile and desktop either mac/windows is great. And special mention for the new feature which got added recently to only show file names and download only on demand is great.
  • online storage of files without any size limit
  • permissions to be set across files/folders
  • preview of all files without downloading and download only those as per demand
  • random issues with files not syncing on Mac OS
  • download speed for large files is slow sometimes gets limited to 5MBps
  • better performance in webapp would be great
Onedrive's reliable cloud storage features are invaluable for sharing documents and files across team members. The app support and updates are all great and works well on multiple OS and mobile platforms. With office 365 the bundled storage of 1TB is more than sufficient for major uses and I can manage without spending much on high configuration laptops with larger SSDs.

All departments in our company use OneDrive. We have easy access to files while working remotely as well as in the office. It's a time-saver for us! It is easy to organize, use, move, rename and delete files. MS OneDrive allows us to manage my media content more efficiently.
  • OneDrive is a multiplatform solution so that we can access files from the device of our choice.
  • With OneDrive, workgroups can centrally view data, avoiding file loss and disruption to multiple employees.
  • By organizing work groups, users may create dedicated directories for their department. This ensures that all descriptions of details, including documentation or multimedia files, are transparent, organized, and stored directly in public-access folders.
  • It has sometimes been difficult to maintain real-time synchronization with all my devices. It repeatedly refused to upload files to the internet. Occasionally, autosave ceased to function for brief periods of time.
OneDrive is perfect for backing up data, sharing files among team members, its weak point is quite average speed of processing some data in the interface for example I recently encountered a significant delay while opening project documentation

It is incredibly helpful having your files in one place and in the cloud! This way you can access your files from multiple devices and trust that the files are being backed up and safe.
  • Organizing
  • Back up
  • Mobile friendly
  • I don’t like it that the account owner has all the access.
It is well suited in this mobile age that we work in. I like using a desktop, laptop, or mobile Device and having access to my files. It beats going through an app like Dropbox and wondering what application it will open up in.

It is being used by both the whole organization and also on the department level. All users in the organization have a license for this. In addition to having the OneDrive for Business, some users also have/are using OneDrive for Individuals, which is related to the personal OneDrive service. For OneDrive for Business specifically, it is integrated with Office 365, which is the main Office software suite being used across the whole organization. It addresses the business problem of having a solid cloud backup storage solution, that integrates with Office 365, and one that can seamlessly share files both internally in an organization, and also externally. It also addresses the business problem of having a storage solution with has a high level of security built in.
  • One thing it does well is it integrates seamlessly with Office 365 applications, such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. It is easy for users to open/modify/save documents from OneDrive within the Office 365 applications, without having to actually open that program in another window.
  • It enables users to be able to securely share files both internally within the organization and those outside of the organization.
  • The Sync function needs to be a little easier to use and understand. On the users part, it is imperative that they are trained into how this function works, or how best to use it. It could be confusing, especially at first glance.
  • Another improvement can be made in the file size limits across the various ways of uploading files. In the most common scenario with business users using a work or school account, the file size limit is only 15gb.
It is well suited for environments that already are using the Office 365 suite of applications across the whole organization, as it integrates very well across those different appplications. It is less suited for organizations that are looking for a very low cost, or no cost, cloud storage solution, as this may not be for them. Since Office 365, and therefore OneDrive, is subscription based, there is an ongoing monthly or yearly cost of the software. Also, OneDrive would be less ideal in environments that are looking for a very simple to use storage solution, as opposed to having one with more features such as OneDrive.

Cloud storage for individual users.
  • Integrated with Office 365.
  • Since implemented "Files-on-DEmand," has become unreliable.
  • Files become corrupted and cannot be opened.
  • Tech support is useless.
  • Buggy software.
OneDrive used to be my go-to product for cloud storage. Seamless integration with Office 365 and 1TB with Office365 subscription, it was perfect. Then came "Files-on-Demand" which was a disaster. At first, simply very slow access waiting for the file to download, even if you had just created and saved the file 3 seconds before. Then came the file corruption where files suddenly became unreadable and could not be opened or recovered. I tried everything, including many hours researching on internet and with MS Tech support. I finally decided today to end the struggle, and go to an alternative product, IDrive. I now have a 1TB harddrive so I really just need my files backed up to the cloud for backup, security and maybe the occasional web access.

OneDrive is being rolled out as a replacement for individual servers for everyone at my global organization. It is addressing the need for cloud storage, collaboration, and secure mobile access. It's helping us stop the use of unapproved and less secure tools like Google Drive and Basecamp. Employees are excited about using it due to the positive improvements to the UX and ease of use.
  • User Experience - OneDrive is easy to use. It's natively integrated on everyone's computers after downloading it from our App portal. It's just like using local file management on your computer. You can easily tell when files are confirmed to be uploaded with intuitive green check marks.
  • Web Access - If for some reason you need to access your files from a browser instead of natively, the experience is still positive. When opening a OneDrive file in browser, you can edit in browser with the browser office apps.
  • Mobile Access - Accessing files on the go is critical these days. The OneDrive mobile app is easy to use and allows you to see all of your files and files shared with you. Paired with other O365 apps, you can also edit files on the go which is very convenient. The O365 mobile apps are great!
  • Sending Links - Though you can easily share links to files from the web experience, it isn't the same on the native experience. It would be nice if you could right click on a file to share its location with someone vs. opening the office application to share with others.
  • File Character Restrictions - This isn't just with OneDrive, but sometimes files will not upload due to an unsupported character in the file name.
I strongly encourage others to use OneDrive internally for cloud storage. It reduces the need for expensive internal server management, and I trust Microsoft's abilities to manage and support a massive cloud infrastructure securely. OneDrive is current, easy to use, and can help drive employees off of other less secure or unapproved tools like Google Drive, DropBox, or Basecamp. As part of the O365 package, I know that improvements will always be made to the tool as time goes on. OneDrive does have public link capabilities, but my organization has not enabled this yet. This is something that would help us eliminate a few other tools as well.

OneDrive is used as an enterprise storage solution across the entire organization. A few departments do use other solutions such as Dropbox; however, OneDrive is available to all employees. It provides secure cloud storage for employees' documents that can be accessed any time from a wide variety of devices such as desktop, mobile, tablets, and so on. It also facilitates the sharing of documents within the company as well as with select people outside.
  • Microsoft Office 365 is the main office productivity suite used widely. OneDrive offers documents to be saved from desktop Office applications such as Word, Excel, and others. Documents can also be created from the mobile app.
  • It allows a browser interface to work on documents. Documents are saved automatically when working through a browser.
  • Saving documents directly to OneDrive from Office 365 desktop applications can be challenging sometimes. I have faced issues wherein the local copy did not sync with OneDrive.
  • I have faced performance issues while working on documents from the mobile app. However, I rarely work on Office documents from my phone, so it is not a major issue.
Some scenarios OneDrive is well suited for are:
  1. Storing and sharing casual Word, Excel, PowerPoint documents
  2. Storing product demo videos and sharing them with colleagues for streaming
  3. Storing images for product branding and sharing them company-wide
  4. Storing recordings of conference calls and sharing them with colleagues
  5. Storing documents that are worked upon by many people at a time
I have not yet found scenarios where OneDrive may be less appropriate in a business setting.

OneDrive is powerful cloud storage used by 70% of our organization. It gives us mobility, powerful sharing options, and good file history changes.
  • Sharing.
  • File history changes.
  • Syncing issues.
  • Better integration when syncing SharePoint libraries.
OneDrive is very good for any sized-companies. It addresses all the important features of modern cloud storage. It helps file collaboration between teams but is also great for single users that want to sync files with every device (PC, Mobile, Web) in real-time. I can't find a particular scenario where it's not suited.

OneDrive is deployed and used across the whole organization in our company. Every department and employee is a user of this giant cloud storage solution by Microsoft. OneDrive is our solution to data storage with security, backups, sharing capabilities and flexible storage requirements. The biggest problem it solves for us to help store data in the cloud so that a loss of hard disk or device does not make us lose our valuable data as well. In fact, this data in the wrong hands could have a major negative impact, so security is also our major concern. Thirdly, sharing of large amounts of data and allowing the whole team to work collaboratively on any file or document is another challenge that is catered through this solution.
  • OneDrive stores data securely and allows us to access it anywhere, anytime.
  • One of the best things about it is the super cool and easy to understand or work on, User Interface.
  • I would love to have more views on the web and mobile interfaces of OneDrive.
  • Another additional good to have feature would be to quickly know which file is shared with whom in the desktop version especially.
If cost or pricing is not a problem for you then OneDrive is the best solution for all your cloud storage needs and requirements. It has a fixed cost of bundle/packages of data which may not be suitable for everyone. Also, if you are already users of Microsoft applications or solutions, it would be a great idea to have this software because of well it plays and integrates with Microsoft applications.

OneDrive is being used to help keep documents organized. We have folders to store all the important files we need. It helps us stay organized and reduce all the paper clutter that would exist without OneDrive. We also utilize the recent files tool to quickly access the files we are constantly using and updating.
  • OneDrive allows quick upload from desktop files.
  • OneDrive gives folder storage ability just like desktop PC.
  • The user interface could be improved but overall it functions well.
  • It would be nice if the preview feature displayed when clicking on a file instead of needing to right click and choose from the drop down menu.
OneDrive is well suited for quick storage and retrieval of important work documents. It allows users to share links to certain files which works well for collaboration. In terms of storage you can easily monitor how many GB you are using and even up storage in 1TB increments. OneDrive works so much like a file directory on a work PC so it is easy to learn and navigate around. It works well on both a PC and a Cell Phone.

Our organization uses OneDrive as essentially a "Google Drive" for our company. For companies that use Microsoft and PCs, this is the easiest option as you don't have to log onto another platform or web browser to have the functions that typical drives provide you with - and you can work on documents easily without going onto an internet browser.
  • Sharing documents
  • Organization across the cloud
  • Unable to work for Macs
  • Mobile app
If your company/organization uses Microsoft or PC mainly and isn't on the Mac/Google train then OneDrive is a perfect solution for you. It is easy to understand and use, and is a great way to bind and organize all of your documents together and collaborate on them as a team.

OneDrive is used by my entire organization as part of the Office 365 suite of products. OneDrive is essential for us since it provides each employee with their own individual cloud storage that is backed up and accessible on their desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, and web browsers, wherever they are. By providing this individual storage for each employee, our company no longer has to maintain another file server to handle this. That means we have one less server on our rack, we don't have to backup additional drives, and we don't have to manage that server through downtime or other connection issues. Employees can share files with each other through OneDrive instead of using a network drive. Employees can also sync the files they feel are important to their local drive so they have immediate access to the most important information. OneDrive keeps everything synced and also keeps version history. It's a fantastic tool.
  • OneDrive does a great job of keeping file version history. I have had to use this feature many times and it is very simple to use. This one feature has saved my butt many times.
  • OneDrive synchronizes across devices very quickly. There have been many instances when I have added files online and, within seconds, saw the file show up on my local computer. This happens the other direction also. I am very impressed and satisfied with the speed of syncing in all directions.
  • The OneDrive app on my phone has been particularly helpful since it automatically syncs my photos (usually within seconds) and allows me access to all my files.
  • I wish OneDrive would allow you to sync multiple personal/individual accounts to your computer. At this time, you can only sync one account at a time. That means that my personal OneDrive and individual corporate OneDrive can't be synced to my computer at the same time.
  • OneDrive has a file size limitation of 15 GB. I know that that is a very large amount, but I have several files that are larger than 15 GB that I wish I could get to sync. I'm hoping that file size limitation changes in the future.
I think OneDrive is very well suited for people who are looking for personal cloud storage. It is fast, easy to use, and you get a reasonable amount of space. OneDrive is also very well suited for corporations who are wanting to provide their employees with individual cloud storage. There are so many great features for both of those situations (quick syncing, version history, apps, etc.).

The only situation I don't think OneDrive is well suited for is if someone had both a personal and individual corporate account. The current limitations in Windows 10 don't allow you to see all your accounts at the same time. Once that gets resolved, I can't see any scenarios where OneDrive wouldn't be a great option.

OneDrive is being utilized by the support areas of the department to share important information. It is more robust than a network drive in that files are not 'locked down' by a single user, there aren't multiple copied being emailed around, and access control is possible. It is also possible to share files/documents with users in other areas of the company easily.
  • Shared files.
  • Collaborative editing.
  • Access control.
  • Mobile access.
  • Too many options for access.
  • Unclear structure at times.
OneDrive is best suited to any environment where files are utilized and need to be shared. It is best suited to an organization that utilizes Office 365 for the office productivity suite, as collaborative editing is available in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc. There is a bit of a learning curve for people used to the 'email me a copy of that' and 'I'll get that off the network drive' mentality. Microsoft has not made it easy to understand the nuances of SharePoint, Outlook Groups, Teams, and OneDrive.

OneDrive is used by the entire company, with a little more than 200 employees. It is incorporated into our corporate email, where we acquired the entire Office 365 package. We concentrate on shared and private files, documents that accompany us everywhere, everything in the tool helps us to make work routines more practical.
  • It is very easy to use, intuitive, has no way to get in the way.
  • Useful tools in the suite.
  • Availability, being in the cloud, follows you wherever you go, you only need a connection to the web.
  • Lightweight, does not crash, loads files quickly.
  • Sharing within a group was a bit confusing, since the existence of multiple files was shared with multiple emails and I could not keep track of them. I needed to add each email to the shared folder.
I do not see a scenario where the tool is not adequate, ranging from basic needs to something more demanding in the workplace. However, it is very well suited in environments where you work a lot with files, shares of them, and there is a great need for their high availability.

Our organization moved away from a mix of Dropbox and Google Drive to using OneDrive/SharePoint as our knowledge management / information architecture solution. It's being used organization-wide, albeit with some stragglers still using Google Drive for some collaborative editing, and others occasionally still using email attachments to circulate documents and collaborate.

OneDrive, in concert with SharePoint, allows our team to synchronize their work to our cloud storage, collaborate in real-time, share links to documents rather than send attachments and track changes, and control permissions to individual folders or documents to allow for collaboration with external partners as well as restrict access based on roles internally.
  • OneDrive integrates with my MacBook fairly well, allowing me to share documents and move fairly seamlessly between local and web versions of a file.
  • OneDrive keeps things in sync fairly quickly and without consuming a lot of system resources.
  • OneDrive (along with Sharepoint's) permissions capabilities are much more fine-grained than Dropbox.
  • OneDrive's visual feedback in Finder as to whether a file is syncing or already synced isn't always up-to-date with the actual status of these files.
  • OneDrive (on Mac) will occasionally fail to sync for errors that aren't accurate, requiring a restart.
  • OneDrive (on Mac) will occasionally fail for file name issues, where filenames allowed on Mac are not allowed on SharePoint, without providing an easy mechanism for fixing them.
  • The real-time collaborative editing user experience is not as good as Google Drive.
OneDrive works well when you have dedicated resources to manage and keep the backing SharePoint site organized, and a team that's most familiar with Microsoft Office products.

For a more tech-savvy teams that rely more heavily on real-time collaboration, Google Drive may be a better choice.

Being a Microsoft shop, the integration of OneDrive into the OS has been a boon to users. We have leveraged this integration by configuring the service to include the users desktop and documents folders to provide a seamless "cloud backup" of their important files. Through this, users always have access to their most important documents regardless of the device being used.
  • Simple user interface. Used in conjunction with the Windows OS, users simply need to know how to place a file in a folder and not have to deal with a complicated client.
  • Easily noticeable visual cues regarding the status of a document sync to the cloud drive.
  • Full Integration into other Microsoft products , e.g Office.
  • The web interface provides a familiar look to people accustomed to using Windows devices and an easy interface to learn for those who are not.
  • Better integration into other Operating Systems, e.g OSX and Linux. While a client can integrate with these, the experience is not as seamless as that in Windows.
  • Better image tools allowing online processing of pictures.
  • The ability to stream music from the service.
Working on the go has become the norm and OneDrive provides a valuable tool for individuals who need to be constantly on the move but may not want to carry a laptop with them that has the ability to share and edit documents from multiple devices. OneDrive has the capacity to enhance the productivity of either an individual or team. With online Office tools, users are no longer bound by their device and are free to work at home or at the beach.

Working in an educational facility, OneDrive is used for instructors' personal drives for storage of documents related to instruction and other school-based materials. As part of our organization's rollout of Office 365 and other Office apps, our organization has utilized OneDrive instead of local server based personal storage options. It is also used as a platform for collaboration between instructors using the cloud-based sharing tools available.
  • Accessibility on PC - OneDrive is integrated and easy to access on Windows-based PCs.
  • Service is Reliable - The OneDrive service rarely goes offline.
  • Integration with Office Apps - OneDrive integrated with other Office applications, such as Microsoft Word, to allow for a seamless creation and document saving process.
  • User Interface - Compared to their main competitor, Google Drive, the interface feels 'clunky'. Some actions do not feel intuitive or have an odd layout.
  • Integration on Mac - On Apple Mac computers, the OneDrive app (especially OneDrive for Business) is unreliable and does not work as well as its PC counterpart.
  • Storage Limits - While not unique to OneDrive, storage limits on free personal accounts are slim, requiring a paid subscription for larger storage tiers.
OneDrive is great for a business or organization setting with multiple users that need to collaborate and share materials.

A very useful tool for syncing file backups to the cloud. We used Active Directory to move all users' folders (Desktop, Documents, Pictures, and Videos) to OneDrive. They are all backed up and synced immediately to the cloud. When a user's computer goes down or we need to set them up on another device, we just create a new profile and then sign the into OneDrive and they have access to all their files and they are kept in sync across devices. Not easy to deploy but a good solution.
  • Backing up files in real time.
  • Clou- based backups.
  • The speed of syncs is very good.
  • Affordable.
  • Version control.
  • Very little monitoring capabilities for the admins. Using PowerShell to generate user reports (usage, sync status, etc.). The online admin interface says these reports are coming but it has said that for over a year.
  • Difficult to release to too many users. Ended up having to use some detailed scripts with AD to get it installed.
  • Little to no resources for developers/administrators. Thanks, MS. Must rely on the MS user network.
Backup your profile folders in real-time (sync) to the cloud. Great for the personal user or small companies (<50), but hard to implement with larger businesses. We also have some synced company-wide folder shares synced on Users PCs so there is an updated repository for files with versioning.

OneDrive is enabled on all our users because of our O365 subscriptions but the official solution that is promoted and supported is Google Drive. The only real plus value of OneDrive is the huge 1TB included of storage with O365 subscriptions. The OneDrive client is also useful to sync Sharepoint sites.
  • Only solution to sync Sharepoint sites
  • Best storage to price ratio
  • Good integration on Windows
  • OneDrive client is horrible on macOS
  • Official OneDrive client is non-existent on Linux
  • OneDrive support on older Windows versions like 8.1 and less is still buggy
  • Sharepoint still tries to use the old OneDrive client by default. You need to go in the setting and tell it to use the new client.
  • Even if it is a lot better then before, OneDrive client is still often not able to sync folders with huge items or a huge amount of small items.
OneDrive has the best storage to price ratio of any solution I know. It is also the only one integrated into SharePoint, so if you already have everything in Sharepoint, OneDrive is probably a must. Otherwise, it's not really the best for document cooperation, the client sometimes feels it's in beta even after all this time and it's lacking behind on features like live downloading of files (Drive File Stream) or video playback (Youtube like playback).

OneDrive is used passively at my company. It comes as part of our office subscription. Most people do not use the program. I used it to save documents as I work from home one day a week and if I need to share a “master” document with clients.
  • I like that it will open documents in cloud based software or my desktop software.
  • It is easy to share documents with others and create user roles.
  • It saves all documents I start in Office 365.
  • I find it doesn’t integrate with my desktop as well as Google Drive.
  • I don’t find the interface very intuitive.
  • The drive saves everything I start in Microsoft Office 365 so I end up with a lot untitled documents. I have to clean up a lot.
This is a good drive when you have multiple work locations. The cloud-based storage allows me to have documents in one place. It’s not great if you use office software for brainstorming orcas or a scratch board. You end up with saved copies of everything.

OneDrive is being used across our whole organization. It helps tremendously with collaboration across teams - especially as we have many remote users. It also addresses the issue of being able to access information on the road, and provides backups for our files more effectively than our servers did.
  • One Drive provides versioning of files that are created in the Microsoft Suite. No more "lost" or overwritten files!
  • One Drive shows you who last edited documents, and even allows two or more people to work on one file at the same time.
  • The syncing ability to the computer file structure makes it easy for less advanced users to adopt use of One Drive.
  • OneDrive is pretty intuitive but more information on the use/creation of sites would be helpful.
  • It would be great, if possible, to add versioning of non-Microsoft files as well.
  • It would be great to enhance the formatting of the online editing tools.
OneDrive is perfect for teams of people who need access to the same documents, or for organizations that need to access documents on the road. However, OneDrive is not limited to larger orgs. It's really great for any organization that needs secure storage for their documents.

Our organization uses onedrive to share, view and store documents amongst different departments. This feature helps our organization tremendously because we no longer have to wait for documents to be hand delivered or wait for a specific person to be available to obtain documents. Now these documents are housed in a central location we all have access to.
  • Storing documents
  • Accessibility amongst different departments
  • Very clear interface
  • Storage cloud maximum
  • More web based apps where files can be shared and edited
  • Update Microsoft Office programs
There was an instance where my colleague was out and someone from an outside agency called in search of a document. I just dropped it on the onedrive and they immediately had access. Onedrive is not so much necessary when you are just trying to easily access a document.
